Missoni has done another great collaboration - this time with Converse sneakers! Available in black and grey, white, and green versions of the iconic Missoni zig-zag pattern, these shoes retail for $200. The unisex pair is navy blue with white accents and all are high tops. Will you be purchasing these limited edition shoes? I think I might!

I’m not sure whether to cringe watching this trailer or be in awe. I think my reaction was a little bit of both. First Position is a documentary which follows six young dancers ages nine to nineteen in a year of ballet aspirations, including the struggles through the Youth America Grand Prix (the largest competition to award scholarships to ballet schools). The drive in these kids is unimaginable. I can’t wait to see this in theaters this month!
The song of the week is The Wave by Miike Snow. Check out this music video! So creepy but really cool and interesting. Especially love when the police come - so funny.
Such a simple message put together in a “sharp” way. Farhad Moshiri’s “Life is Beautiful” installation message is made completely out of knives stuck in the wall. The saying speaks for itself!
French Elle promises to show Karl Lagerfeld like you’ve never seen him before. Judging from this picture of him in a supermarket, he’s never seen himself this way either. In fact, he’s never even been in a supermarket before this picture was taken! He says, “It’s the first time I’ve stepped into a supermarket. It’s crazy — fascinating what one can buy. There’s enough here to easily gain 20 kilos.” Wow! Other pictures in the spread include him driving, cooking, and generally doing things you would never picture the Chanel and Fendi designer doing. The purpose of the photo shoot is to showcase his Karl clothing line but it brings forth his eccentricities which lots of designers seem to have!
As many of you may know, I love checking out new and cool ways to design or update my loft. Have you ever heard of a website called Think Decor? It has some great simplistic design inspirations! It’s easy to scroll through and just pick up some ideas or aesthetics. This is the type of clean look I strive for in my home!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there! Have a great day - I’ll be spending it with my husband and little one!
Coachella, the music festival held in LA, is like this generation’s Woodstock … fashion-wise. However, I like those who stand out and go for more grunge-y looks. Every year I look forward to seeing what eccentric outfits will come out at the festival. Floppy hats with a 70s vibe were a big hit this year, as were printed pants, crop tops, and maxi dresses. Also, I love sheer tops and round sunglasses. Some people were even tying flannel shirts around their waists … are we going back to the 90s?? One girl rocked a turban … look out for De*Nada’s new turban coming out in our Fall/Winter 2012 collection (hint hint)!

Love these mirrored tiles! I could see this working well in my all black bathroom or even as a back splash in a kitchen. I think it would look best in small areas rather than a whole wall - it really opens up the space, even in a small quantity. What a great twist on classic tile! Would you install this in your house?

Today’s Song of the Week is Lemonade by CocoRosie. If you don’t know, they’re a sister act which is so cool. Love the song + music video! Very creepy, weird, and imaginative. Love the fantastic costumes and makeup - I can only imagine what one of their live shows must be like!
One trend that I’ve been seeing around lately is asymmetrical hemlines for dresses. I tried on this blue dress recently and am thinking about adding it to my wardrobe! What do you think of this trend? Yay or nay?
Today’s Artist of the Week is very special - my husband Kelly Towles! Here are some samples of his work which are done all over from DC to LA, Philly, and Brooklyn - check it out. Happy birthday Kelly - mi amor!
In keeping with last week’s classic jazz, the Song of the Week is PS I Love You by Billie Holiday! Such simple romantic words and a great, soft tune. I love to listen to the oldies - everyone should!
Check out this student thesis project by Marcela Abal and Maria Ines Paysse! I can’t believe this was done by two students for their graduation from Centro de Diseño Industrial in Uruguay! These pictures are very inspirational - I love the idea that a sweater or scarf could turn someone into a mythical creature like a mermaid.

The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York is having it’s Biennial this year. It’s going on right now and ends May 27th, with portions extending until June 10th! There will be “sculpture, painting, installations, and photography as well as dance, theater, music, and film” for this event. General admission is 20 dollars, and well worth it.
